Donate Your Books
The Friends will accept books that are in "like-new" condition. The Friends will no longer be able to accept VHS tapes, encyclopedias, or magazines.
*We are not able to accept book donations at this time, but hope to be able to do so soon. *
Share Your Skills
The Friends welcome new skills, talents, and energy. You may be perfect for an existing position or the Friends may be able to create a position that is just right for you.
Attend a Friends Meeting
The Friends invite you to attend our monthly in-person meetings. If there is enough interest, we would be happy to set up virtual meetings.
Assist with Our Book Sales
You may want to staff the popular book sales, where books are half price or $5.00 for a bag of books. You may also enjoy filling or organizing the shelves with a new supply of books. (Of course, you will probably find a few you want to buy.)
Attend Meetings with Leaders
You may enjoy representing the Friends at the Victor Valley Chamber breakfasts. You can also help us improve by networking with other Friends' groups at the annual Service With a Purpose Conference. You can be a huge help by attending Victorville City Council meetings when library issues are being considered.
Be a Fundraiser
The Friends welcome fundraising ideas, especially with a new library on the horizon. The Friends have held a variety of fundraisers, including fashion shows, a Hollywood awards gala, Barnes & Noble events, and more. If you have an interest in fundraising, we want to hear from you!
Recruit New Members
The Friends seeks to obtain a membership that reflects the diversity of Victorville. You could work to find out when and how these individuals would like to participate.
Spread the Word
Help the Friends spread the word about all the wonderful functions the library performs, as well as the need to keep working toward making needed services available to all Victorville residents. Your assistance with newsletters, social media, and the website would be appreciated.
Assist with Special Events and SRP
During non-COVID times, the library is bustling with activity during the Summer Reading Program. The Harry Potter Party usually involves hours of prep work for the crafts and activities, as well as help the night of the event.
